A pitch is a special type of presentation - it
is a zero-sum endeavor. There are winners, and there are losers. Period. End of
story. Winners get the money, the account, the publicity. Losers get to go home
and lick their wounds, living in a perpetual state of bewilderment and
confusion, wondering why all their time and effort did not payoff.
As a pitching coach, my goal is to win. I prepare my clients for success by focusing on the attitudes and behaviors that make a winning result more likely. I call this Total Pitching, because it requires a total commitment to doing what must be done in order to win. It is not a hobby, it is not a game, it is not an amateur endeavor.
An additional benefit of Total Pitching is that it lays the foundation for ongoing success. Believe it or not, it takes less effort to win (in the long run) than it does to lose. Once you master the strategies, tactics, and behaviors that lead to a favorable outcome, you can focus your energy on building your business, instead of wasting time trying to figure out what keeps going wrong.
