Communication can best be summarized as the transmission of a message from a sender to a receiver in an understandable manner. The importance of effective communication cannot be overstated. From a business perspective, effective communication is an absolute must, because it often accounts for the difference between success and failure, or profit and loss.

In addition, business professionals must recognize that the messages they send may not be received and perceived in the way intended. To ensure information sent becomes useful to the people who receive it, people should take extra care to communicate in a style and tone which is appropriate for the current situation. Additionally, they must understand their audience. Failing to comprehend what the audience wants and expects can result in further confusion, and failure to reach strategic business objectives.
